Bug repellent lotion

~Now Paraben free!~

Summer in the Arctic always means tons of mosquitoes and biting flies. Though it's great for the environment and for the birds it is most defiantly annoying! Fighting the hordes of mosquitoes (the mosquito was almost Alaska's state bird!) has become a regular summer event. This summer I decided to create a line of natural bug repellent products to try an get away from the deet overdose, perfect for campers (which we are!) gardeners, hikers, and anyone out there who loves nature as much as we do!

This is my much tested and used  'Bug repellent lotion,' the perfect mix of herbs and essential oils that both repel biting insects (and even moths and ticks ) while healing your skin. As anyone who enjoys the outdoors knows if you are getting your hands dirty you will get a cut or two, dry skin, or sunburn, or scrapes! This lotion contains 'Stinkweed' oil (arctic wormwood) which has been used for generations and generations to repel bugs as well as in poultices that helps to heal small cuts and bruises and sores. I have also added other wonderful essentials oils to bolster these beneficial characteristics!

I love to use this lotion if I know I will only be out for an hour or two, or if the bugs are not as thick (in Alaska this means that you are not inhaling a bug every few minutes!), as I hate having the heavy chemical deet layer on me and will avoid it at every cost!  The husband approved scent eventually fades away and leaves my skin soothed and heathy.

This lotion has a pleasant lemony herbal scent, clean and refreshing.  Though just as effective this natural mix of herbs will not last as long as deet heavy lotions, so it will need to be applied every one to two hours during exposure to insects, or if it is sweat off or you go swimming.   Do not use if pregnant.

Please also see my listing for the sample sized squeezy, which is also a wonderful little bottle to tuck away in case of emergencies!
